At present,the development of VLOG in China is getting hotter and hotter,and the number of users and the circle of users is increasing and expanding,with BiliBili station as the representative VLOG creation platform.In today’s VLOG subject matter tends to homogenize,exotic theme VLOG has become a new outbreak point,and African VLOG in a variety of exotic VLOG is particularly striking."They have created a vivid,diversified and contradictory image of Africa on the platform,presenting a clearer picture of African life and deepening users’ understanding of Africa’s image.In this theses,seven Chinese African-life Uploader of BiliBili station were selected as research subjects,and all their African VLOGs released between January 1,2021 and December 31,2021 were chosen,and finally a total of 825 valid samples were obtained.Based on the frame theory,the content analysis of African VLOGs taken by BiliBili station’s Uploader was conducted in three frame dimensions: high,medium and low.In the process of analyzing the frame dimensions,it was found that the African VLOGs shot by the BiliBili station’s Uploader exhibited overall characteristics such as a strong sense of life,more positive emotional flow,more real-time shooting,single presentation of characters,limited shooting scenes,less traces of editing and retouching,and more third-person perspectives.Meanwhile,from the content analysis of African VLOGs on BiliBili website,it is obvious that BiliBili’s users prefer to watch African VLOGs with Chinese elements,positive attitudes,longer duration and real-time filming.On this basis,this study comprehensively analyzes and concludes five typical African images constructed by BiliBili’s African life Uploader under the influence of personal factors,media factors and commercial factors: the "vigorous" African image,the "close and friendly The image of Africa is "prosperous","close and friendly","natural and simple","poor and backward" and "crisis-ridden".From the five typical African images constructed by the Uploader of BiliBili website,we can find that BiliBili website’s African images present complex and contradictory image characteristics,exaggerated and entertaining style characteristics,and subjective characteristics of the opposition between "self" and "other".Finally,on the basis of the overall reflection on the construction of the African VLOG’s image on BiliBili website,we propose communication strategies such as adhering to the principle of authenticity,avoiding prejudice and stereotypes,assuming the main responsibility of intercultural communication and providing correct value orientation in response to the problems of superficiality and excessive commercialization. |
