Research On Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office In The Early Stage Of New China (1958-1966)

In the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China,Guangdong Province’s foreign affairs work was led by the Guangzhou Military Administration Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.In 1958,the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province(hereinafter referred to as the "Foreign Affairs Office")was established,and it remained unchanged until the "Cultural Revolution" occurred.During this period,Guangdong’s foreign affairs work was carried out in an orderly manner,and various tasks of foreign exchange were completed.This article takes the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province from 1958 to 1966 as the object of investigation,and uses the archives and other documents as the basic research materials to fully sort out the work of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province during this period.Firstly,it investigates the background of Guangdong Province’s foreign affairs work in the early days of the founding of New China,and expounds the preliminary development of Guangdong Province’s foreign affairs work after the founding of New China.The organizational structure and team building of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province in the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China were analyzed again.First,it was an investigation of the establishment and functions of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province.Second,the foreign affairs team was built through job training,political awareness and reorganization.In addition,it discusses the work carried out by the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province in the early days of the founding of New China.One is the propaganda work,including propaganda of the CCP’s foreign policy,willingness to cooperate with foreign countries and the achievements of the new China.The second is the reception of foreign affairs,including planning,compiling a catalogue of foreign guests and adjusting reception standards.At the same time,it also carried out foreign affairs work in the medical field,and inspected the foreign cooperation and exchanges of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province.Finally,it investigates the experience,deficiencies and enlightenment of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province.This paper summarizes the contribution and significance of foreign affairs work in Guangdong Province,and analyzes the deficiencies and enlightenments of the foreign affairs work of Guangdong Province in the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China,in order to benefit the current construction of foreign affairs work.
