| The Marxist Doctrine Research Society of Peking University(hereinafter referred to as the "Marxist Doctrine Research Society" or the "Research Society")was a group organized by Li Dazhao to prepare for the establishment of the Party. It promoted the building of Marxist doctrine research societies and party organizations in many places and contributed to the creation of the Chinese Communist Party.Based on the progressive students of Peking University, the research society widely absorbed members from inside and outside the capital who aspired to Marx’s doctrine. The members actively spread and practiced Marxism and made significant contributions to the Chinese revolutionary movement.Later, the Institute gradually developed into a peripheral organization of the Party and played an important role. The development of the research society can be divided into the secret stage, the early public stage, and the later stage. After the secret establishment of the Institute, the members began to study Marx’s doctrine, felt their way through practical activities and accumulated some experience. After the visit of a representative of the Communist International named Vikingski, the establishment of the Chinese Communist Party was on the agenda. The research society provided human resources to help develop the organization and built up its strength. With the development of the party organization, the Institute decided to go public to attract more believers and concentrated on revolutionary activities. The research society set up a library and a translation group to systematically study Marx’s doctrine, laying a better theoretical foundation. With the combination of practice and theory, the research society grew increasingly mature, raising the energy of the CPC and attracting the attention of the Kuomintang.Against the backdrop of the collaboration between the Communist Party and the Nationalist Party, the research society strengthened the anti-imperialist and anti-feudal struggle and promoted the Chinese revolutionary movement more deeply. The members of the Institute were willing to devote themselves to the task of nurturing a group of early Marxists, promoting the founding and development of the Chinese Communist Party, and advancing the revolutionary process in China. The light will never die,and the spirit will always live on.Their nobility is beneficial to the cultivation of patriotism, the inheritance of the spirit of party building and the promotion of red culture in the new era. |
