Research On The Early Dissemination Of Marxism In China By Liqunshushe

In the early years of the Republic of China,when the pretense of a "false republic" and imperialist bullying were looming,various trends of thought gradually spread among the young people who were seeking a way to save the country and the people.Yundaiying,Linyunan,and others established the Liqunshushe with the purpose of "helping people and serving the masses" in the midst of the "socialist" trend.By distributing Marxist books and journals,engaging in education,participating in factory work,translating Marxist works,and publishing journals,the Liqunshushe disseminated textual and expository information about the development of the Russian Revolution,the doctrine of class struggle,Marxist economic theory,and the idea of "socialism".The process of spreading Marxism by the Liqunshushe was characterized by the use of books as a medium,the use of educational reform and industrial establishment as copies,the use of academic,local,and professional ties as propaganda,and the initiative of going to the countryside to enlighten the workers and peasants.The Liqunshushe gave full play to its role as a link between the sale of theoretical texts and social practice,united progressive "comrades" and groups,and promoted the spread of progressive ideas in Hubei,Hunan,Anhui,and parts of Henan.In fact,the Liqunshushe became a repository for the spread of Marxism in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River,expanding the scope and broadening the channels for the spread of Marxism.It also trained a group of firm revolutionaries and instructors for the development of the "student movement," "workers’ movement," and "peasant movement" after the founding of the the Communist Party of China.At the same time,due to the limitations of the times,the Liqunshushe also had the problems of shallow knowledge of Marxist theory and unsystematic dissemination of Marxism.Today,under the new situation,it is still worthwhile for us to explore and inherit the early practice of Marxism dissemination by the Liqunshushe,so that we can do a good job of Marxism dissemination in the new journey and truly achieve the unity of knowledge and practice.
