With the rapid development of economy and society, the problem of aging population in our country is becoming increasingly prominent.According to the latest population data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, the number of people over the age of 60 in our country has exceeded 260 million, and the growth rate is fast.It is expected that by the end of the 14 th five-year Plan period, this population will account for more than 20% of the total population. At the same time, our country’s population aging also shows the characteristics of aging population. With this comes a later shift in the working age and a decrease in the working population. Our government attaches great importance to the problem of population aging, and has put forward clear requirements for this problem in many meetings, among which strengthening the development of elderly human resources is an important content of relevant requirements. And in all the old human resources that can be developed, the young old is the key object of development. The young elderly have sufficient labor capacity and strong desire for participation, but they face the conflict between family and work due to the increasing demand for care of the elderly and the young population. Therefore,in this context,it becomes more important to study the relationship between caring behavior and labor participation of the young elderly.Based on 2018 CHARLS data, this thesis studies the impact of family care on labor participation of the younger elderly.Firstly, based on the theory of family intergenerational cooperation, the theory of labor leisure and the theory of family time allocation, this thesis proposes three hypotheses: first, family care behavior has a negative impact on the labor participation of the young elderly;Second, family care affects the labor participation of the young elderly mainly through the time of care;Third, there is an intensity effect(threshold effect)on the impact of care time on the labor participation of the young elderly.Through descriptive statistical analysis of sample data, the basic understanding of the participation of the young elderly in family care and labor was obtained. On this basis,STATA statistical analysis software was used to select corresponding models for basic regression analysis, mediation effect analysis and intensity effect analysis to verify the above assumptions successively. In order to eliminate the risk of invalid conclusions caused by endogenous problems, this thesis, referring to previous studies, conducted robustness tests on regression results by using instrumental variables(the ratio of community elderly care)and adjusting core variable Settings(adjusting the setting range of intensity). Finally, combined with descriptive statistics and empirical analysis, the young elderly are divided into different samples according to different personal, work and family economic characteristics, and the heterogeneity of the young elderly groups with different characteristics is discussed. The empirical results show that the care behavior has a significant negative impact on the labor participation of the young elderly mainly through the care time, and there is an intensity effect.By assisting home care, improving the market care system, unblocking labor participation channels, and formulating corresponding policy plans for different groups of characteristics,it will reduce the burden of young elderly and promote their participation in market labor. The main innovations of this thesis are as follows: First, change the perspective and pay attention to the self-development of the young elderly;second, find the specific impact path of care behavior on the labor participation of the young elderly;the third is based on the actual situation, considering two kinds of care needs and exploring their intensity effects.
