On The Developmental Thought Of Urban And Rural Integration By Marx And Engels

The separation between urban and rural areas,which exerts certain negative influence not only on coordinated balance of economic and social development and national comprehensive modernization but also on equity in social development and common prosperity,is a widespread concern ever since in history.The binary separation of urban and rural areas in China,as a country with a long history of agriculture civilization,has been there for a long while until now.With the changes of times and social development,the social structure,industrial constitutes and the level of the development of the productive forces in China have changed radically,but the separation remains unresolved at root,and it even develops an ever-increasing prominent problem to impede the coordinated social and economic development.To systematically make research on Marx-Engels urban-rural integration thoughts has significant theoretical and practical meanings to guide China to remold and establish relationship between industry and agriculture and urban-rural relationship in a new era,to eliminate the urban-rural binary separation,to advance the development of urban-rural integration,to radically resolve “the issues” relating to agriculture;rural areas and farmers,and to realize rural revitalization and to explore a modernization way with Chinese characteristics.Based on related works and speeches by Marx and Engels,this thesis,taking Marx-Engels urban-rural integration development thoughts as research object,analyzes the original logic and main contents of the thoughts and points out their materialistic conception of history and the historical background they were in.They partially inherited relentless revelation to capitalism by utopian socialists in 19 th century,on the premise of building up an ideal society,dialectically studied the evolution process in human being’s history and urban-rural relationship in capitalism,analyzed the inherent impetus brought about urban-rural relationship in socialism society,revealed the underlying reasons from integration to separation,from unity to antithesis,and predictably illustrated the historical necessity and path to realize urban-rural integration development.Combined with the development of urban-rural relationship in China and practical problems,the thesis reveals the contemporary value of Marx-Engles urban-rural integration development thoughts when China is going to realize urban-rural integration development.Specifically,firstly,this thesis analyzes the theoretical basis and historical background of Marx-Engles urban-rural integration thoughts,points out that the thoughts,theoretically,originated from “Utopia” social idea by Thomas More,“New Communism Community” by Owen,and “Harmonious Society” by Fourier,and the historical background was rapid industrialization and modernization;Secondly,the thesis systematically studies on Marx and Engles’ s understanding of the development of urban-rural relationship and urban-rural relationship evolution and inherent impetus in capitalism society.From their perspective,the development of urban-rural relationship is a history prospect from “ urban-rural integration” to“urban-rural separation” and from “urban-rural antithesis” to “urban-rural unity”,which is from low to high,from simple to complex,and the inherent impetus consists of division of labor,development of productive forces,private ownership in capitalism and capital appreciation;Third,the thesis illustrates the historical necessity and path to realize the urban-rural integration development raised by Marx and Engles.Only in a communist society,to tap society’s productive potential by leaps and bounds,resolve difference between industry and agriculture and between urban and rural areas,eliminate private ownership and then realize the perfect urban-rural integration,all of which can be the effective way to resolve the urban-rural antithesis relationship in capitalism society.At the end,combined with modern urban-rural relationship in China,this thesis reveals the contemporary value of Marx-Engles urban-rural integration development thoughts when China is going to realize urban-rural integration development.
