With socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new age,the government sector is also into a critical period of change.Comrade Xi Jinping emphasized in the construction of the Party and cadres that "the Party should rely on study to move into the future" and clearly put forward "enhance the enthusiasm,initiative and creativity in work".Thriving at work,as a psychological state that combines vigor and learning experience,is not only reflected in civil servants’ ability to learn new knowledge,but also reflected in their passion for work,drive to be the first and aggressive.It provides a new way of thinking for civil servants to perform real deeds and improve the effectiveness of government governance.Regrettablely,there is almost no research on the topic of thriving at work in the domestic public sector at present.At the same time,The Party and the country have presented new demands on the civil servant team in the new age,it also means more responsibilities and stressors for civil servants.Among them,the stressors are often manifested as higher performance appraisal requirements,wider work responsibilities,more complex tasks,"formalism",red tape and "a mountain of paper work and a sea of meetings".In essence,these stressors can be segmented into challenge stressors and hindrance stressors.However,the current research that is analyzing the public sector environment using the framework of "Challenge-Hindrance Stressors" is in just emerging.The mechanism of the impact of challenge-hindrance stressors on thriving at work has not been discussed and tested in public sector.For make up for the deficiency of informed researches,this text research introduces the self-determination theory,and further explores the intermediary role of basic psychological needs satisfaction on the basis of analyzing the impact of challengehindrance stressors in the public sector on thriving at work.A longitudinal follow-up questionnaire survey was conducted among 217 civil servants in Fujian Province.It is found that challenge stressors have a remarkable positive influence on thriving at work,while hindrance stressors have a negative influence on thriving at work.Meawhile,basic psychological needs satisfaction will play a complete mediating role in the relationship between challenge-hindrance stressors and thriving at work.The research conclusion of this paper not only enriches the previous research results of government departments’ challenge-hindrance stressors,but also further introduced thriving at work into the domestic public management research field,and provides inspirations for the development of the domestic civil servant team.
