In recent years, because of the improvement of various basic conditions and the government’s emphasis on the development and publicity of tourism, tourism in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture has developed rapidly, attracting a large number of tourists from home and abroad.Under this background,it is of great practical significance and practical value to study the translation of local tourism texts. This report is a translation of Selected Tourism Commentary of Sacred Hainan(excerpt),a project commissioned by the Bureau of Culture and Tourism of this county. It aims to help more foreign tourists understand the local national culture, explore how to improve the readability and acceptability of the translated text based on retaining the cultural connotation, help the target language readers to accept Chinese culture, and promote the cultural exchange between China and foreign countries. The content of the Tourism Commentary is mainly characterized by the information text, which contains a large number of local cultural words. Therefore, this report takes the translation of Cultureloaded words as the main starting point, and divides them into ecological Culture-loaded words, social Culture-loaded words, religious Culture-loaded words and linguistic Cultureloaded words according to the content.Based on Susan Basnett’s cultural translation theory, this paper analyzes the English translation of Culture-loaded words.Under the guidance of cultural translation theory, translation should not be limited to the description of the source text, but should reflect the cultural function equivalence between the source and target languages,so as to avoid the lack of cultural connotation.Translators should try their best to reproduce the cultural information of the source language, and at the same time consider the reception of the target readers.Through translation practice and case analysis, the translator has the following conclusions: some social, religious or cultural words, such as those related to official positions, are unique cultural phenomena in China, and it is difficult to find corresponding words in English-speaking countries. Therefore, the translator chooses transliteration and annotation to solve them, which keeps the Chinese color of the translated text.Besides, some words with rich cultural connotations in China, such as “Nuwa” and “Lao-Tzu”,are included, therefore, the translator mainly uses literal translation and annotation when dealing with these problems, there are also some vocabulary related to Tibetan cultural characteristics, such as "Laji Mountain,Yeniu Mountain, and Zama Rigen Mountain".The translator used transliteration when translating, which can intuitively display the cultural characteristics of ethnic minorities. |
