In 1939,Tao Xingzhi,a great educator,founded an experimental school,the Yucai School,for children in difficulty in Chongqing.The school adhered to the educational purpose of cultivating talents for the war of resistance and national salvation,implemented the value guidance of Tao’s life education theory,attached importance to the significant function of aesthetic education and moral education,and conducted a series of innovative activities based on the practice of music education.In the historical period of the Comprehensive Anti-Japanese War,facing the social situation of domestic and foreign aggression and the ever-changing tide of the times,Chongqing Yucai School established music groups,recruited music children who were in trouble due to the war,hired famous music teachers and offered music courses,taking root and starting a foundation through arduous efforts,promoting the spread and development of music and art education in the rear areas,which has made indelible historical contributions to the development of China’s education at that time and even today.As the value guidance of Yucai School,Tao’s life education thought mainly includes three parts,“life is education”,“integration of teaching,learning and doing”,and "society is school".The music education practice of Yucai School was rich in connotation,diverse in form,extensive in scope,and effective.The specific content of its education practice can be divided into three categories,music curriculum teaching practice,music works creation practice,and social music education practice,which corresponded to Tao ’ s life education thought.The practice of music education in Yucai School ran through the period of national hardship education,wartime education,and democratic education,including the contents of school education and social education,and covering the theories of Tao’s life education,creative education,and children’s education.It has important academic and research significance and historical value.The time and space scope of the practical research on music education in Chongqing Yucai School is limited to the period from 1939 to 1947,during which music education related practical activities were conducted in Chongqing,that is,before moving to Shanghai.First of all,investigate the era background of the establishment of Yucai School in the midst of the national hardship.By sorting out the process of the establishment and development of the music group,elaborate the basic situation of its music education concepts and systems,and understand the overview of its music education construction.Secondly,based on the practical content of music education within the scope of Yucai School,the vivid historical scene of music curriculum teaching practice is outlined from three aspects,the composition of teachers and students,the curriculum system and the teaching content,reflecting the ideological requirements of Tao’s life education theory of "life is education",and demonstrating the historical outlook of the school’s teachers and students in experiencing the life of music and cultivating national talents.Thirdly,focusing on the creative practice of Yucai teachers and students’ music works,this article expounds the educational content and characteristics of the creative practice from the aspects of creative background and guiding thought,creative team and educational practice,creative results and work analysis,and the significance of creative practice,demonstrating the creative vitality of Yucai teachers and students in the singing movement during the Comprehensive Anti-Japanese War,and embodying the educational concept of “integration of teaching,learning and doing”.Fourthly,the practice of social music education in Yucai.This article introduces the specific content of music social practice of students in school and mass music education for the public under the guidance of the value of "society is school",and also demonstrates the key features of the school’s music education practice from students to the masses,from school to society,and from studying to saving the country.Finally,based on the above analysis,this article evaluates the practice of music education in Chongqing Yucai School,summarizes its significant characteristics,historical achievements and contemporary value,providing theoretical reference for today’s music education practice.
