The Research On Sui And Tang Stories In Popular Novels Of The Ming Dynasty

The Sui and Tang dynasties were a very important period of unification in ancient Chinese history,and the Tang Dynasty has long been considered one of the peak dynasties in ancient China.The process of the Sui and Tang dynasties’ demise and rise is even more a legendary history of dramatic changes.The historical events and active heroes that occurred during this period have been talked about with great interest from the Tang Dynasty to the present,and therefore a large number of different interpretations of the Sui and Tang stories based on historical facts have emerged in various literary genres throughout the dynasties.The Ming Dynasty was an era in which popular novels were born and flourished.This article selects the long popular novels written in the Ming Dynasty with the Sui and Tang dynasties as the background for the study.Through sorting out the Sui and Tang stories in various types of popular novels such as historical lectures,erotic novels,and supernatural novels,it examines the development trend of the Sui and Tang stories in the Ming Dynasty,the degree of deviation from official history,and its impact,According to the situation of novel compilation and book engraving in the bookstore,it analyzes the different target readers of the novel,and summarizes the historical concepts presented in the popular novels of the Ming Dynasty.The paper includes the following sections:The introduction section introduces the origin of the research,as well as the current research situation related to the stories of the Sui and Tang dynasties,determines the research object and the conceptual scope of the popular novel types in the Ming Dynasty,and introduces the popular novel versions involved in this article.The first chapter analyzes the stories of the Sui and Tang dynasties in the historical lectures.There is a natural and close relationship between historical novels and historical stories,and historical novels with the theme of Sui and Tang dynasties are also the most complete and rich stories about the Sui and Tang dynasties.This chapter first discusses the origin of the Sui and Tang historical lectures in the early Ming Dynasty from two aspects:the evolution of the Sui and Tang stories before the Ming Dynasty and the exemplary nature of the historical lectures in the early Ming Dynasty.In the Ming Dynasty,there were four historical lectures based on the Sui and Tang dynasties,including "The Popular Romance of the Annals of the Tang Dynasty","The Annals of the Sui and Tang Dynasties","The Ci Hua of the King of Qin of the Tang Dynasty",and "The Sui History Relics".The first two of them are typical historical lectures in terms of compilation methods.The "According to Jianyan" and the "Biography of the Sui and Tang Dynasties" in the "Popular Romance of the Tang Annals" and the "Biography of the Sui and Tang Dynasties" are both literary and historical,both of which are preliminary integrations of the stories of the Sui and Tang dynasties.The latter two novels embody the artistic transformation of the stories of the Sui and Tang dynasties with the trend of romanticization in "Ci Hua of the King of Qin of the Tang Dynasty" and the changes in the center of history telling in "Sui Shi Shi Shi Yi Wen",as well as the evolution path of the historical storytelling novels from the separation of literature and history to literary independence.The second chapter analyzes the Sui and Tang stories of erotic and supernatural novels.Although most erotic novels and supernatural novels use fiction as their main artistic means,under the influence of the changes in social atmosphere and the mutual influence of different types of novels in the mid and late Ming Dynasty,there have also emerged some novels with the historical background and framework of the Sui and Tang dynasties,which more or less involve stories of the Sui and Tang dynasties."The Biography of the Ruyi Emperor" and "The History of the Sui Yang Emperor",which portray the emotional lives of Wu Zetian and Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty in erotic novels,are more involved.Through textual research on the "Biography of the Ruyi Emperor",this article discusses the dual attributes of history and eroticism in "The History of the Sui Yang Emperor",and analyzes the evaluation of these two controversial emperors by the people of the Ming Dynasty and the reasons for their impact.".Less involved,such as fairy tales,discuss the tailoring of fairy tales to history by analyzing the differences between the archetypes of characters and the images of emperors in fairy tales.Finally,it summarizes the changes in the concept of emptiness and reality in popular novels in the mid and late Ming Dynasty,as well as the creative practice of novels under the influence of the concept of emptiness and reality.The third chapter discusses the dissemination and acceptance of Sui and Tang stories in the Ming Dynasty.The spread of Sui and Tang stories in the Ming Dynasty included three aspects.The first is the author and novel compilation,analyzing the author’s principles of novel compilation through the form of preface or commentary.Secondly,it analyzes the differentiated management strategies of bookstores in different regions during the mid and late Ming Dynasty under the fierce commercial competition.Then there is the reception of readers and novels.By analyzing readers’ acceptance and feedback on the stories of the Sui and Tang dynasties,the scope of dissemination of the stories of the Sui and Tang dynasties in the Ming Dynasty is discussed.Finally,it concludes that the historical concept dominated by "orthodoxy" was widely accepted by ordinary people with the widespread dissemination of stories in the Sui and Tang dynasties.The conclusion summarizes the characteristics of the Sui and Tang stories,explains the reasons for the limited literary achievements of the Sui and Tang novels,and summarizes the value of the Sui and Tang novels of the Ming Dynasty.
