Adolescents are in a critical period of self-centered development, and they pay more attention to the intimate perception of themselves in the process of interpersonal communication, which makes the hypothetical audience have a high prevalence in the adolescent group and become a common psychological phenomenon in the adolescent group, but it has many negative effects on the mental health development of adolescents.Previous studies have shown that there is a correlation between hypothetical audiences and social network use, social adaptation, and interpersonal relationships, and adolescents with imaginary audiences will adopt different problem-solving strategies for different purposes, because junior high school students do not yet have rich social experience, and the solution strategies for social problem events are not mature and complete, for adolescents with high-level imaginary audiences, they will feel overly "imaginary" in the process of social communication being evaluated and concerned.Long-term persistence in the state of imaginary audience makes the individual in a state of tension and pressure all the time, which in turn causes negative emotions such as negative evaluation and fear. But at the same time, because the group is in the process of development and has a large capacity for plasticity,if adolescents can improve their social problem-solving skills, they can alleviate their fear of negative evaluation. Therefore, this study intends to select hypothetical audience, social problem solving and negative evaluation fear, and try to explore the mediating mechanism of social problem solving in the influence of hypothetical audience on negative evaluation fear. Then, based on the research results,a group counseling program related to the social problem solving of junior high school students was formulated to explore whether the group counseling intervention method was effective in improving the social problem solving and negative evaluation fear of junior high school students. This study contains two sub-studies:Study 1: Using the New Hypothetical Audience Scale, the Revised Social Problem Solving Questionnaire(SPSI-R)and the Simplified Negative Evaluation Fear Scale,694 junior high school students were randomly selected from two ordinary middle schools in Hebei Province and Hainan Province, and a sample questionnaire survey was conducted on their imaginary audience, social problem solving and negative evaluation fear, which explored the relationship between hypothetical audience, social problem solving and negative evaluation fear of junior high school students, and explored the mediating role of social problem solving.Based on the research conclusions of Study 1,Study 2 selects participants from the respondents of Study 1,selects students with high scores in negative tendency, impulsive style, avoidance style, and negative evaluation fear score for social problem solving group counseling to reduce the negative evaluation fear of middle school students, and also provides new ideas for educators to carry out mental health work. The results of this study show that:(1)There is a significant difference in the hypothetical audience of middle school students in terms of their place of origin and whether they are student cadres.Among the five sub dimensions of positive tendency, negative tendency, rational style, impulsive style, and avoidance style in solving social problems, positive tendency and negative tendency show significant differences in gender, positive tendency and rational style show differences in grade, and rational style also shows significant differences in student origin and whether student cadres are present. There is a significant gender difference in the fear of negative evaluation among junior high school students.(2)There was a significant correlation between hypothetical audience, social problem-solving ability and negative evaluation fear, and there was a positive correlation between the hypothetical audience and negative tendency, rational style, impulsive style, and avoidance style, and the hypothetical audience could significantly positively predict the negative evaluation fear of junior high school students, with positive correlation between negative tendency, impulsive style, avoidance style and negative evaluation fear, positive tendency and negative evaluation fear, but rational style and negative evaluation fear were not correlated.(3)The three dimensions of negative tendency, impulsive style and avoidance style of social problem-solving ability play a mediating role between the imaginary audience and negative evaluation fear, but the mediating role of the two dimensions of positive tendency and rational style is not established.(4)The group counseling intervention program with social problem-solving ability as the main body can effectively improve students’ social problem-solving ability, thereby reducing their negative evaluation fear.
