Senior high school is an important stage of individual development, and peers play an increasingly important role in the growth of senior high school students, becoming the important others of individuals in this stage of development. At the same time, high school students are facing increasing pressure of college entrance and increasingly heavy academic tasks.Their social time is being compressed, and they lack enough opportunities to accumulate social experience and improve social skills. Thus, they are limited in the establishment of good social relations, which may lead to social insecurity, anxiety and other attitudes.Social anxiety refers to the emotional response and avoidance behavior of strong anxiety, nervousness or fear about certain interpersonal situations.Social anxiety affects students’ academic performance, mental health, personal development,self-identity and adult intimate relationships to varying degrees. Therefore,we should pay enough attention to teenagers’ social anxiety. Many previous studies have shown that parental psychological control is an important factor affecting adolescent social anxiety. As a negative parenting style, parental psychological control is manifested as parents imposing their own will on children, hindering children’s free exploration, and then limiting children’s personality and adaptive development, which may cause social anxiety. In addition, parents’ internal control over children’s emotions in family interaction will make them ignore their children’s true feelings, which is not conducive to guiding children to accept their own emotions, and easy to fall into the rumination of negative emotions, such as thinking repeatedly about the impact of negative emotions, and forming a negative cognitive style in the long run.Numerous studies have also found that rumination is an important cause of anxiety.Based on this, this study focuses on the influence of parental psychological control on social anxiety of high school students, and analyzes whether rumination plays a role in it,and alleviates social anxiety of high school students through group counseling that interferes with rumination. This study includes two sub-studies.In study 1,700 teenagers in grade one and grade two of a high school in Wuhan were surveyed to explore the influence of parental psychological control on social anxiety and the mediating role of rumination.Spss25.0was used for data analysis to test the mediation model proposed in this study. The results showed that parental psychological control, rumination and social anxiety were positively correlated.Parental control positively predicted rumination and social anxiety;Rumination positively predicted social anxiety;Rumination plays a partial mediating role in the influence of parental control on social anxiety. In Study 2,on the basis of study 1,22 subjects with high scores of social anxiety and rumination were selected and randomly assigned to the control group and the experimental group with 11 subjects each. The experimental group received group counseling, while the control group received normal psychological courses of career planning series, and the data of the two groups were analyzed after the group counseling. The results show that group counseling for rumination can effectively reduce the level of rumination in high school students and relieve social anxiety. This study revealed the relationship between parental psychological control, rumination and social anxiety, enriched the influencing factor model of adolescent social anxiety, and alleviated the social anxiety of senior high school students through group counseling with intervention of rumination, providing a reference for the intervention of adolescent social anxiety in the mental health education of primary and secondary schools in the future. |
