Quyang County has a long history.It is named for its location on the sunny side of the bend of Hengshan Mountain,the Ancient Beiyue.Since the first year of the first Emperor of Qin(221 BC),Quyang County has a history of more than two thousand years.Quyang has become a famous hometown of stone carving because of its rich production of high-quality marble.Before the 17 th year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty(1660),the Beiyue Temple in Quyang had always been the place of worship in the past dynasties,a large number of sacrificial inscriptions and official titles were left.Therefore,the number of metal stone literature in Quyang is the largest in Hebei.The Catalogue of Bronze and Epigraph in Volume 11 to 13 of The Revised County Annals of Quyang in the Guangxu Dynasty included a large number of epigraph documents from the Han Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty,half of which were not recorded by the predecessors,so it has great historical value.The compilers not only recorded the basic information of epigraphy literature in detail,but also collected the original text as completely as possible and made detailed textual research,which has certain literature value and academic value.This county annals is an excellent one among the existing ancient chorography in Quyang.It has detailed content,meticulous style and detailed textual research,which is worthy of further study and utilization.At present,there is little research on it in the academic circles,and there is a serious lack of understanding of its content and style value.Through systematic and comprehensive investigation,this paper will introduce and analyze the whole county annals,and then focus on the style characteristics and literature value of The Catalogue of Bronze and Epigraph.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter introduces the source and significance of the topic,the current research situation of the academic circles and the research methods and innovations adopted by the article.The second chapter comprehensively introduces the basic situation of the county annals.Firstly,from the perspective of compilation revision,the background and process of compilation revision,compilation organization and main contributors,compilation thoughts,principles and methods of compilation revision are investigated.Secondly,based on the whole spirit,summarize its content and style characteristics.Finally,a simple comparison is made between The New County Annals of Quyang County in the Kangxi Dynasty and the The revised County Annals of Quyang in the Guangxu Dynasty,in order to further understand the value of the later.The third chapter focuses on the analysis of the stylistic characteristics of The Catalogue of Bronze and Epigraph.First of all,the principles that the compilers follow when collecting documents should be examined,and then the number of collected documents is counted and classified from the content.Secondly,it analyzes the way of bibliography,the items of bibliography and the situation of bibliography.Finally,by reading all the cases carefully,the basic characteristics of the case language are summarized.The fourth chapter,from the practical point of view,deeply excavates the literature value of The Catalogue of Bronze and Epigraph.Among them,unrecorded documents can be used to collected the lost literature.The relatively complete and reliable records in The Catalogue of Bronze and Epigraph can be used to collate the literature that had been recorded by predecessors.The literature in The Catalogue of Bronze and Epigraph preserve a lot of information that is not contained in historical records,and which has great historical value.It not only can be used to investigate the trace of people,the official system of the past dynasties,the evolution of place names and so on,but also to understand the sacrificial activities of the past dynasties in the Beiyue Mountain.The Catalogue of Bronze and Epigraph also has a certain culture and artistic value,which can be used to make more readable records for the existing inscriptions in Beiyue Temple.It can collect and study the history of Quyang stone carving art related information.We can find the clues of the spread of religious culture.
