This study focuses on the development and presentation of rural culture in the field of documentary photography in China after the 1980 s.In the final analysis,it is about how the traditional Chinese humanistic spirit,the place spirit of nostalgic memory and space are reflected in today’s documentary photography.With the gradual increase in the number and scale of urbanization,urbanization often faces such problems as excessive consumption of environmental resources and rapid dispersal of history and culture under this situation of rapid development.Moreover,contemporary people’s attention to the humanistic feelings of nostalgia memory and discussion of the spirit of place are presented in documentary photography works,which are also the epitome of rural development in China.This article also starts from the development relationship between local culture and documentary photography after the 1980 s.The 1980 s is not only the beginning of contemporary Chinese photography,but also the beginning of reform and opening up,especially the rural reform.In the past 40 years,a large part of rural development history is recorded by documentary photography,and local culture has also become an important theme of Chinese documentary photography.In chapter one,local culture is closely linked with documentary photography by introducing the characteristics of Chinese local culture and the relationship between local culture and Chinese documentary photography.The second chapter introduces the concentrated creation status of rural culture in documentary photography after the 1980 s,the third chapter classifies rural culture according to the expression theme of documentary photography,and the fourth chapter expresses its understanding of rural culture in combination with its own works.
