A Study On The Appropriateness Of Materials And Concepts Of Water Elements In Contemporary Art

The academic community currently believes that contemporary art was introduced to China in 1978 with the implementation of the reform and opening up policy.In 1985,the "Lao Sheng Bai Works International Tour Exhibition" held by the China Art Museum exposed Chinese audiences to nearly half a century of contemporary art in the United States.It has inspired Chinese artists to explore new art forms and sparked the rise of the "85 New Wave" art movement.Chinese artists extract elements from traditional culture to create contemporary Chinese art.Contemporary art has always presented diverse and highly conceptual materials,leaving viewers confused about the connection between the material of the work and the artist’s conceptual expression.In fact,contemporary art creation is logical,and it is difficult to sort out a clear creative context by analyzing the materials and concepts of the work in a general manner.Therefore,this article focuses on the specific perspective of water element works and analyzes the relevance relationship between the materials and concepts of the works.In contemporary art,the material ontology has two attributes: physical and social,covering the appearance and connotation of materials.The ontology language of each material is unique.When creating,the artist selects implementable materials according to the matching between the ideas he wants to express and the ontology language of materials.Concepts are formed by artists by conceptualizing inspiration in their minds before creating.The occurrence of specific events in a mature artwork over time can also promote the growth of concepts.This article explains relevant concepts,focusing on the application of water elements in contemporary art,and compares and analyzes the differences in the use of water elements between different types of art and artists,Analyze the appropriateness between the use of materials and the expression of ideas in his works.Furthermore,based on my own creative experience,I will elaborate on my understanding of the suitability of materials and concepts in the creation of works.This article takes the element of water as the starting point to delve into the appropriateness of materials and concepts in contemporary art,providing a theoretical basis for understanding and creating contemporary art works.
