With the successful broadcast of the "A Bite of China" series of gourmet documentaries, discussions about the documentary are endless, and its various social effects continue to ferment.Various scholars have discussed and analyzed its success from various latitudes such as creation, communication, narrative and innovation, and on this basis,it has promoted a boom in the creation of food-themed documentaries. In the context of the development of urbanization, the nostalgia discourse in the food documentary series "A Bite of China" is studied with the help of film and television, food anthropology and aesthetics.Through the analysis of the causes of nostalgia, the types of nostalgia and its connotation are proposed. In the light of China’s long and deep history of food culture,we analyze why the act of "eating" in modern society can widely arouse "nostalgia of the tongue" in order to clarify the inner cultural logic of "nostalgia of the tongue".On the basis of the rational construction of "tongue nostalgia",it is proposed that food activities as cultural identity can effectively help people gather collective memory and thus build a national cultural community. The main content of the article is divided into the following four parts. The first part analyzes the types of "tongue nostalgia" in the documentary series "A Bite of China",including "ecological nostalgia","ethical nostalgia" and "humanistic nostalgia"."It also discusses the basis of the classification of "nostalgia on the tongue".In terms of its definition, triggering object and connotation,"ecological nostalgia" is a natural nostalgia, which triggers the desire for a harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature, while "ethical nostalgia" arises from the conflict of rules between human beings and people in society, which expresses the The "ethical nostalgia" arises from the conflict of rules between people in society, showing the incompatibility and confusion of traditional ethics in the modern order, while the "humanistic nostalgia" is the nostalgia from the cultural level, presenting the dilemma of people in choosing the way of living. Therefore,"tongue nostalgia" is not a single form of nostalgia, but a rich expression of nostalgia in many different forms, and the analysis of the type of "tongue nostalgia" is conducive to the audience’s better understanding of the acclaimed "China on the Tongue" documentary series. The analysis of "nostalgia on the tip of the tongue" is conducive to the audience’s better understanding of the reasons for the popularity of the "A Bite of China" documentary series,as well as the in-depth study of nostalgia culture. The second part discusses the mechanism of "nostalgia on the tip of the tongue".In this part, the paper draws on food anthropology to gain a deeper understanding of food culture, and through understanding the symbolic and ethical meanings implied by food,it argues that the choice of food is actually a physical practice of people’s nostalgia, and through the confirmation of taste buds, spiritual identity is sought. On this basis,we suggest that the reason why "nostalgia on the tip of the tongue" has become a social trend is that in the process of urbanization, things have naturally taken on modernity, and modernity has deconstructed people’s habitual perceptions, making people tend to seek identity and homecoming from food. Finally, the background and reasons for the emergence of "tongue nostalgia" are combined to point out that "tongue nostalgia" can effectively help individuals acquire their own identity and contribute to the construction of collective memory. The third part, starting from the artistic level, discusses how the series of food documentary "A Bite of China" presents "Nostalgia of the Tongue" through the artistic narrative method.Firstly, from the level of audiovisual language,it is argued that the documentary "A Bite of China" presents food to the screen for consumption through a certain degree of spectacle, and in the process, the narrative about food is storytelling and symbolic,so as to fully mobilize the audience’s visual, auditory and taste senses.Secondly, the narrative strategy of "Nostalgia of the Tongue" is analyzed from three aspects: living, civilian, and poetic, and it is believed that the living food expression is more close to the viewers’ sensory reality, the civilian narrative perspective is conducive to the communication distance with the viewers, and the poetic expression is more relevant to the abstract nostalgia emotion and can better evoke the viewers’ The poetic expression is more relevant to the abstract nostalgia and can better evoke the nostalgia of the audience.Once again, the unique Chinese characteristics of "family culture," "harmony culture," and "ritual culture" are hidden in the food culture. We believe that Chinese nostalgia is born in the warm family field and in the cultural fields of "harmony" and "etiquette" in interpersonal communication. After a comprehensive analysis of "Nostalgia on the Tip of the Tongue",this paper concludes by suggesting that the documentary series "A Bite of China" has built a romantic narrative of nostalgia in the context of urbanization, effectively alleviating people’s spiritual anxiety in the process of development, but on the other hand, the romanticism of the story of homesickness needs to grasp the strength and depth of a narrative, and prevent people from over-relying on the ideal idyll built in the documentary.
