Marcantonio Raimondi as an example to explore the impact of printmaking on the dissemination and viewing experience of art.Raimondi was a key figure in replicating paintings through printmaking in Italy and other regions,and became the first important printmaker due to his mastery of a dominant engraving technique.His collaboration with Raphael,particularly on the print “Massacre of the Innocents”,was especially notable.During the Renaissance,when mass-scale printmaking enterprises had not yet been established,and the roles of artists and printmakers were not clearly defined,there were many grey areas in their collaboration.Raimondi did not simply copy Raphael’s work,but transformed his sketches into prints,reinterpreting Raphael’s artistic language.In this process,Raimondi was both a faithful recorder of Raphael’s art and a skillful,creative artist.After Raphael’s death,Raimondi continued to replicate and disseminate his works through printmaking.Over time and with continuous replication,people became increasingly distant from Raphael’s original works,and learners benefited from the clarity and convenience of the prints,but also developed biases towards Raphael due to Raimondi’s filtering.However,it was precisely based on Raimondi’s prints that Raphael had a direct influence on the formation of later artistic creation and aesthetic standards through the imitation and learning of many art enthusiasts and painters...
