Born in the 1950 s and 1960 s,rock and roll was introduced to the Chinese mainland in the late 1970 s and appeared in Chinese films as a subcultural element.Rock and roll embraces everything,often understood as a state of mind or being,or chosen as a carrier.This paper takes the rock subculture elements in Chinese films as the research object,discusses the phenomenon of rock subculture in Chinese films,and analyzes its spiritual core and development process.Further research on the unique style of rock subculture elements as music forms,cultural symbols,and theme orientations,and try to summarize how the styles and forms presented by rock subculture elements revolutionize the visual language and expression techniques of films.Explore the development direction of the subcultural element of rock and roll after it appeared frequently until it caused the audience’s aesthetic fatigue,and was incorporated into a symbol by commerce,so as to understand the social situation at that time and the contemporary nature of rock and roll.Reflect on the status and influence of this rock subculture element in Chinese film industry,and look forward to its future development trend.
