Research On The Shaping Strategy Of Female Images In Female Documentaries

At the end of the 20 th century,a new documentary movement emerged.They dared to go beyond the boundaries of traditional narratives and turned their vision to the vivid and real individuals around them,creating a different image of women with a more empathetic perspective and stance than traditional documentaries.This study concentrates on the mould of female images in women’s documentaries.On the basis of previous research,through extensive observation and study of interviews and creative diaries of female documentaries and their directors,and using documentary analysis and case study methods,combined with the graduation project "Jue",we first systematically sort out and excavate the female consciousness behind the female image,and then explore the complete process of the construction of the female image from two levels: the construction of narrative techniques and the construction of audio-visual language.In the first part of the thesis,the concept and development of women’s documentaries are reviewed and summarized.The second part,based on documentary images and previous research,summarizes the female consciousness implied by the female figures in women’s documentaries,namely,the contemplation and resistance to fate,the exploration and healing of the family,the emphasis and appeal to health,and the speech and confession of emotions.The third section analyses the strategies of constructing female images from the perspective of narrative techniques.The study finds that female documentary filmmakers are good at understanding female characters from a more empathetic female perspective,restoring female images from a more detailed micro perspective,and presenting a more intimate image of women from both the physical and psychological space.The fourth section analyses the strategy of constructing the female image from the perspective of audio-visual language,and finds that female documentary filmmakers are adept at poetically expressing women’s emotions,character and feelings through camera language.Long shots are used to soothe women’s emotions,empty shots to reveal women’s character,and close-ups to capture women’s emotions in detail.He also uses a variety of sound language elements,such as dialogue,narration and interviews,to express women’s voices and evoke emotional resonance.It is hoped that this thesis will provide some practical experience and inspiration for the development and study of femininity.
