With the development of social economy and the arrival of the consumption era,the female body has received unprecedented attention.The consumption activities taking the female body as the object of consumption emerge in endlessly,among which there are some one-sided,excessive and alienated body consumption,which makes the female body trapped in the consumption predicament and unable to extricate itself.The female body is influenced by consumerism,patriarchal culture and capital power.Consumerism incorporates female body into the consumption system,propagates specific aesthetic concepts and standards with the help of mass media,sets up body model samples,guides women to transform their bodies in various ways and keep getting closer to the body model,and strengthens women’s identification of consumer culture in thought and action.Patriarchal culture regards the female body as the object of attachment and sexual representative,and according to its own aesthetic taste,it points out the female body,constantly defines and plans the female body,and the female body has been subjected to the male aesthetic gaze and guidance.Capital interest groups regard the female body as a tool to make money,and each part of the body is the business map planned by them.They create the desire to consume through advertising,and use the symbolic meaning of commodity symbols to induce women to consume their bodies,thus making women fall into blind,impulsive and symbolic consumption activities.At present,the female body has become the object to be stared at,defined and disciplined,and the body is in a passive,not free state of existence.In the long run,the independent consciousness and aesthetic concept of female subjects will be gradually replaced,and the unique and diverse beauty of female groups will eventually disappear.This paper is divided into five parts.The first chapter summarizes the research background,current situation,significance and methods of this paper.The second chapter analyzes the body aesthetics and mass media,female body consumption in the age of mass media and female body consumption under patriarchy.The third chapter shows the female body landscape in the mass media.Chapter four analyzes the reasons why women fall into the predicament of body consumption.Chapter five provides a way for women to get rid of the predicament of body consumption.Based on Richard Schusterman’s theory of body aesthetics,this paper analyzes and corrects the deformed aesthetic view and consumption view of women in today’s consumer society.By establishing diversified and personalized aesthetic standards,this paper improves women’s subject consciousness,guides women to adopt correct body practices,and helps women to form correct body aesthetic view and consumption view.Finally,in the consumer society,we should practice the body aesthetic concept of harmony and unity of body and mind and internal cultivation,avoid excessive consumption of the body,and pursue beauty rationally. |
