Study On Phonological Commentaries Of Shi Ji Di Ming Kao

Shi Ji Di Ming Kao was written by Qian Mu,a famous modern historian in 1939,based on the place names involved in Shiji,and compiled by extracting relevant annotations from the three notes of Shi Ji,and each place name was followed by case sentences..In the process of interpreting place names,Qian used a lot of exegetical methods.The exegetical materials in the book are complex and numerous,leaving us with a wealth of research materials.This article takes the phonological commentaries of Shi Ji Di Ming Kao as the research object.Through the exhaustive screening and sorting of phonological commentaries of Shi Ji Di Ming Kao,it comprehensively investigates the phonological terms used by Qian’s exegesis,analyzes and summarizes the expression form and main function of the phonological terms to classify and discuss the phonetic and semantic relationships of the phonological commentaries.The introduction mainly includes the following content: firstly,it briefly discusses Qian Mu’s life and Shi Ji Di Ming Kao.Secondly,it details the research status of Shi Ji Di Ming Kao and the research significance of this topic.Thirdly,it introduces the research ideas and methods of this topic,as well as the innovations.Chapter one is mainly about the following content:firstly,making a brief combing and definition of the development and concept of phonological commentaries,so as to correctly select the phonological commentaries from the exegetical materials and sort out 228phonological commentaries of Shi Ji Di Ming Kao according to the concept of it.Secondly,different types of phonological commentaries’terms were summarized from the phonological commentaries,which were mainly divided into more than ten types,such as“tong(同)”,“jin(近)”,“tong(通)”,“zhuan(转)”,“yin(音)”,“sheng’e/yin’e(声讹/音讹)”and so on.Thirdly,summarize the main function of the terms of phonological commentaries.Chapter two is the phonological research on the phonological commentaries,mainly based on the ancient phonetic system established by Mr.Wang Li,referring to the Handbook of Chinese Characters Ancient Phonetics by Mr.Guo Xiliang,to analyze the phonological problems of the phonological commentaries of the Shi Ji Di Ming Kao and divide phonetic relations such as consonance and nearness into six types,namely,the same initials and rhyme;the same initials with rhyme turning;the same rhyme with initials turning;initials and rhyme all turning;the same initials with separated rhyme;the same rhyme with separated initials and summarize the features of the relationship of phonological rhyme.Chapter three and chapter four are the research on the relationship of cognate words and interchangeable words of the phonological commentaries,mainly based on the criteria for judging cognate words and interchangeable words.Works such as Chinese Cognate Characters Dictionary,Han Yu Tong Yuan Zi Ci Cong Kao,Gu Zi Tong Jia Hui Dian and so on,to analyze the phonetic and semantic relationship between the interpreted part and the exegetical part in the phonological commentaries of Shi Ji Di Ming Kao,and summarize the word and semantic relationship of it.Chapter five summarizes the achievements and shortcomings of Qian Mu’s phonological commentaries in Shi Ji Di Ming Kao.Qian used the method of phonological commentaries to verify and determine some place names in Shi Ji,corrected some mistakes in the predecessors’ commentaries,provided circumstantial evidence for the laws of phonology.As for shortcomings,part of the terms used in phonological commentaries are vague,and there is less detailed discussion of phonetics.
