Kathe Kollwitz(1867-1945)was a German printmaker and sculptor who recorded in the form of art the suffering of the laboring masses and the resistance of the oppressed in the context of social upheaval and change.Based on the analysis of the causes of Kollwitz’s art and the expression techniques of his prints,this paper expounds the profound connotation of tragedy in his works of art,which is of guiding significance to the author’s study and creation of prints.This paper is based on the author’s creative practice.In addition to the introduction,this paper is divided into three parts.The first part discusses the meaning of tragedy,which refers to the integration of suffering,disaster and life value in reality.People transcend their own ability in the struggle against suffering and realize the value of life.Then,the formation of Kollwitz’s artistic view is analyzed in combination with the cultural background of the time and personal experience of Kollwitz.And from the unique perspective of Kollwitz’s works,the technique of print expression and the thoughts and emotions of the tragic meaning conveyed by his works are discussed.The second part is the study of Kollwitz results in practical application,the engraving from the selected topic,woodcut of black and white aspects such as operation,composition,art of using saber is specific analysis,and the creation of tragedies in reading,expounds the creation of a fireman,health care workers in the face of disaster,the outbreak has not afraid of death,have the courage to fight tragedy implication.The third part is the summary of Kollwitz prints’ learning,reference and integration innovation in the expression of characters in the creation practice. |
