Compassion is an important quality for individuals to adapt to society and maintain mental health, and is a research topic that has been widely concerned by the psychology community in recent years.Nowadays, fierce social competition, heavy academic pressure, and overwhelming network information are extremely easy to cause setbacks to high school students who are immature in their physical and mental development. When high school students face failures or inadequate, they usually use self-criticism to hurt themselves.A large number of empirical studies have shown that compassion, which includes both self compassion and compassion for others, helps individuals to remain aware of and open to the pain experienced by themselves and others, and to engage with difficulties in an intelligent and understanding manner. As one of the international mainstream compassion intervention techniques,Compassion Mind Training can increase self-compassion,reduce self-criticism,and improve mental health. At present, the research of Compassion Mind Training is relatively rare in China, while most of the research abroad mainly focus on adults or clinical groups. On this basis, this study takes high school students as the research objects to explore the influence of Compassion Mind Training on mental health of high school students. In this study,48 subjects(26 in the experimental group and 26 in the control group)were recruited from a high school in Fuzhou. The intervention group received seven sessions of Compassion Mind Training, while the control group did nothing. The Forms of the Self-Criticizing/Attacking and Self-Reassuring Scale, the Fears of Compassion Scale, the Self-Compassion Scale and the SCL-90 Scale were used to conduct scale surveys before and after the intervention.SPSS22.0 was used for statistical analysis, and the research results are as follows:1.Before intervention, there was no significant difference in scores of self-criticism,fear of compassion,self-compassion and mental health between the intervention group and the control group.2.After the intervention of Compassion Mind Training, compared with the control group, the scores of self-inadequate in self-criticism,fear of compassion from others, compulsion and interpersonal sensitivity in mental health of the intervention group were significantly reduced, and the scores of common humanity and self-kindness in self-compassion were significantly improved. The interview results after the intervention showed that Compassion Mind Training changed participants’ cognition of compassion and self-criticism,and brought about changes such as stress relief, relaxation and self-acceptance.To sum up,Compassion Mind Training in this study has a certain intervention effect on the mental health of Chinese high school students. It can reduce self-criticism,fear of compassion from others, compulsion and interpersonal sensitivity of high school students, and increase self-compassion,which can provide operational reference for future research on domestic compassion in China.
