In recent years, the mental health problems of college students have become increasingly severe. How to help them solve their mental health problems, relieve their negative emotions, and restore a healthy and positive mindset is an urgent problem that needs to be solved.Even now that quite a few colleges of psychotherapy are flourishing, and most psychological problems can be solved in the counseling room,self-criticism and shame are still difficult problems to overcome.Compassion focused therapy(CFT)was developed specifically for people with high levels of shame and self-criticism.Compassionate mind training(CMT),a core part of CFT,is designed to help individuals create inner self-support to cope with self-criticism,shame,and depression, and to improve their mental healthBased on compassion-focused therapy, this study designed a compassionate mind training program, recruited 50 college students, and assigned them to the experimental group and the control group based on the principle of completely random assignment, with 25 students in each group. The experimental group received seven-weeks of standardized compassion training group intervention,120 minutes each time, and no intervention was performed on the control group. After the intervention, the changes in the level of selfcompassion,well-being,self-criticism,shame and emotional state of the members of the two groups were examined, and participants were interviewed.SPSS26.0was used to input and analyze the data, and the following results were obtained:(1)CMT intervention can significantly improve participants’ mindfulness in self-compassion,worry about health, energy, and satisfaction and interest in life in well-being,self-comfort in self-criticism,and can significantly reduce self-criticism.(2)Through the interviews, the participants showed a significant improvement in self-criticism,self-acceptance,and motivation.Chinese college students were well adapted to the revised compassion training. The results of the study reveal that the seven-week compassionate mind training intervention is effective in improving the mental health of non-clinical college students, and can provide operational reference for future intervention research.
