Quiet And Gloomy-The Study And Reference Of Utrillo’s Urban Landscape Painting

Maurice Utrillo is one of the outstanding talented artists in French painting in the 20th century.His paintings contain his attachment to the things around him,endow his wholehearted will and ideal with the spiritual connotation of the picture,and the works are full of quiet and gloomy atmosphere.In the repetition of alcoholism and mental hospital,the picture with its own unique meaning occupied a place in the all inclusive French painting world at that time.By analyzing the humanistic spirit behind Maurice Utrillo’s works and the formal language and technical expression embodied in his works,this paper studies the causes of the style of tranquility and melancholy in his pictures.The main body is mainly divided into the following four parts: the first part briefly combs and introduces the artistic context of Maurice Utrillo;The second part explores the formal language of urban architecture in Utrillo’s works by interpreting the color change and emotional expression in his four periods,exploring the causes of his melancholy,and analyzing the exquisite and subtle texture effects of his works;The third part draws the formal language of Utrillo’s art painting into the author’s oil painting creation practice,explores and expands the expression potential and possibility of his own oil painting language,and provides a more diversified form for his personal oil painting art career.The fourth part summarizes the artistic thought and technical expression contained in Maurice Utrillo’s urban architectural paintings.Finally,this paper aims to provide a new perspective and reference for contemporary art creation by studying Utrillo’s art works.
