When native English speakers use Chinese cultural words,especially Chinese animal cultural words,they often have the phenomenon of single repetition or even separation from the use of cultural connotation.The underlying reason is that they do not understand the national and historical connotation of such words,as well as the random and subtle changes in general use and special situations.In view of this situation,in the cultural teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,we should deepen the study on the unique national cultural connotation of Chinese animal words,the historical inheritance different from English,and the psychological accumulation caused by religious schools and anecdotes different from Chinese.Using the method of literature analysis,this paper summarizes the research on animal words teaching and cultural teaching in Chinese as a foreign language,and selects11 typical and commonly used animal words of TCFL based on HSK Vocabulary Level Outline Vocabulary List,Chinese Character Level Vocabulary and Chinese Character Level Outline,General Outline for International Chinese Teaching,combined with Chinese Language Dictionary and Modern Chinese Frequency Dictionary.From the perspective of cultural dimension,this paper makes a comparative analysis between Chinese and English,and explores the reasons for their differences.On this basis,supplemented by the global Chinese interlanguage corpus and HSK dynamic composition corpus,this paper focuses on the frequency and specific use of such words by foreign students from native English speaking countries,which are divided into original meaning,Zodiac meaning,cultural meaning,figurative meaning and other levels,combined with the arrangement of animal words in the teaching materials of TCFL such as Boya Chinese,New Practical Chinese Textbook,Chinese Tutorial and two corpora are quantitatively analyzed in the form of data tables.Besides,three native English speaking foreign students are systematically interviewed on the above 11 animal words to analyze the possible factors of difficulties encountered by foreign students from English speaking countries.Finally,from the perspective of teaching principles and teaching methods,this paper puts forward effective teaching countermeasures for the differences of animal cultural connotation,and integrates cultural teaching into vocabulary teaching,so as to promote vocabulary teaching to the height of culture. |
