As a type of woodcut,the artistic language of chromatic woodcut has certain particularity.After a period of evolution,in the continuous exploration and exchange between Chinese and foreign print creators,a variety of forms of expression have gradually formed.In the 1980 s,young artists carried out various explorations and attempts to enrich and diversify the expression of materials and pictures in the creation of chromatic woodcut prints,focusing on the use of materials and tools and the composition of pictures.The requirements for color in chromatic woodcut are relatively high.Through the overprinting of multiple plates,a rich picture effect can be formed.Proper use of overprinting between plates can better render the atmosphere and make the picture more vivid.Today’s chromatic woodblock painters pay more attention to the color printing skills of their works,and pay more attention to the thickness and brightness of the color in the pictures.The works have produced more rich effects through color overprinting.I paid attention to this point in the creative practice of chromatic woodcut,and learned that the different effects of color overprinting,the brightness and concentration of color and the order of printing will affect the final picture.This paper focuses on the overprinting in woodblock painting,explores the overprinting between plates,analyzes the factors that affect the overprinting effect and the elements of multi-plate overprinting,studies the examples of monochrome overprinting and multi-plate overprinting,and expounds them in combination with my own overprinting woodblock creation. |
