Case Study Of Shao Bao's Calligraph

Shao Bao was born in Wuxi,Jiangsu Province in the fourth year of Tianshun(1460)and died in the sixth year of Jiajing(1527).He was a famous litterateur and calligrapher in the Ming Dynasty,also an important member of the Chaling School.His calligraphy has always been neglected by the public,while being regarded as the miracle in the middle of the Ming Dynasty under the secretariat style.This paper investigates Shao Bao’s family origin,official career,correspondence communication and calligraphy creation stages,then sorts out his calligraphy thoughts to explore the characteristics of his calligraphy art,complete the case study,restore his special value and status in the middle of the Ming Dynasty.The first chapter sorts the family origin of Shao Bao’s calligraphy,as well as the beginning and end of his study and the ups and downs of the official sea,then probes into the influence of his calligraphy origin by Yu Bao,Zhuang Chang,Qian Xi,Li Dongyang and Wu Kuan,narrates his deeds of benefiting the people as an official,and proves the connection of his "character is calligraphy".In the second chapter determines the deeds through the sorting of Shao Bao’s letters and literature,analyzes his main activities in various regions and the comments of the literati circle on his calligraphy,so as to establish his book study thought of "Retro Etiquette".The third chapter makes a complete collection of Shao Bao’s personal calligraphy,explains the ideological connotation of his calligraphy of the retro calligraphy,and introduces his creation by time stages to draw out the beginning and maturity of his thoughts,then discusses its influence on the emergence of the romantic style of writing in the late Ming Dynasty.The conclusion reappraises the status of Shao Bao’s calligraphy in history,gives his calligraphy the correct historical status and value,affirms his ideas in the direction of calligraphy innovation,and puts forward some problems for further study his calligraphy.
