Writing is an essential skill for students.However,the situation of English writing teaching and learning is not very promising in senior high school,with less emphasis on it.In addition,it has brought great challenges to writing teaching and learning because of the application of the continuation task in the College Entrance Examination.This thesis adopts an experimental study to verify the effectiveness of Activity-based English Learning Approach to continuation task teaching for senior Grade One students.Starting with the input and output hypothesis theory and alignment theory,the author conducted13-week teaching research with two parallel classes in Grade One in a senior high school in Jiujiang city as the experimental objects.There are two research questions to be discussed in the thesis:(1)What is the influence of applying Activity-based English Learning Approach to continuation task teaching on senior Grade One students’ continuation task writing ability?(2)What influence does the application of Activity-based English Learning Approach to continuation task teaching have on senior Grade One students’ writing interest? Three methods(test,questionnaire and interview)were adopted to collect data in this thesis.SPSS 26.0 software and Excel tables were used for data analysis.There are major findings of the research in response to the two research questions.First,the experimental class students have made great progress in the continuation task after applying Activity-based English Learning Approach to continuation task teaching.In contrast,there is no obvious improvement of the students in the control class.And the difference between the two classes is significant.The results show that the application of Activity-based English Learning Approach to continuation task teaching has a positive impact on promoting the language,structure,and content of senior Grade One students’ continuation task,improving their continuation task competence to a certain extent.Second,the application of Activity-based English Learning Approach to continuation task teaching creates a relaxing and happy learning atmosphere for senior Grade One students,enhancing their interest in the continuation task.Moreover,the result of the research indicates that students’ confidence and the sense of accomplishment in continuation task writing are enhanced.Therefore,according to the research,it is effective to apply Activity-based English Learning Approach to continuation task teaching for senior Grade One students in high school.
