| With the promulgation of the English Curriculum Standard for Senior High School(2017)and the adoption of continuation writing as a new examination question in the college entrance examination,improving students’ skills of continuation writing has become one of the most important teaching objectives of senior high school English teachers,which requires that English teachers strive to improve the efficiency of the continuation writing classes.However,now most of the senior high school students are still far away from the requirements of examination standards in terms of precise understanding of the given reading materials,the reasonable fulfillment of the continuous plots and the proper organization of narrative language.As the core theory of the new Curriculum Standard,the Perspective of Activity-based Learning in English is the way of employing the objectives of curriculum,the direction of reforming the model of instruction and the basis of organizing classroom activities.Therefore,it is urgent to guide the current continuation writing teaching through the Perspective of Activity-based Learning in English so as to improve students’ overall literacy of continuation writing.Based on the Input-Output Hypothesis and the theories of Constructivism,this research aims to investigate the application of the Activity-based Learning Perspective in continuation writing teaching.The subjects are 90 English teachers who are from four senior high schools in Lanling of Shandong Province and the research methods are questionnaire,classroom observation and interview.The survey includes English teachers’ perception of the Perspective of Activity-based Learning,the practical effects of this teaching activity,and the possible influencing factors in implementation of the Perspective of Activity-based Learning during the continuation writing classes.The findings of the study are as follows:(1)The majority of senior high school English teachers understand the Perspective of Activity-based Learning in English to a certain extent,in terms of its activity goals,teaching methods and activity types,though there is a lack of adequate understanding of the perspective.(2)Teachers are inclined to attach great importance to the organization of text-understanding activities but ignore the implement of educational practice,and especially lack innovative teaching activities.(3)The possible influencing elements of promoting the implement of the Perspective of Activity-based Learning during the continuation writing classes mainly concentrate around the support from school,teacher’s degree of awareness of the Perspective of Activity-based Learning and students’ level of the core competence of English discipline.Due to the restrictions of research conditions,this research contains some inevitable deficiencies,such as the inadequate data of research samples and the simplicity of data analysis.But the results of this research will provide beneficial references and useful suggestions for the teaching practice of the Perspective of Activity-based Learning during the continuation writing classes. |
