| After the founding of New China,North Korean films landed in China under the slogan "Resist the U.S.,Aid the DPRK,Protect the Country" and were widely disseminated after the signing of the Agreement on Economic and Cultural Cooperation between China and North Korea."It spans from the founding of New China to the end of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea.Its tumultuous and dramatic conflicts and changes were not only held in check by the political discourse of the time,but also by the multiple influences of cultural transmission.Although the current research on the history of Korean cinema has been fruitful,it is mostly focused on the textual study of Korean cinema,and there is an urgent need to expand the research objects,research methods,and research perspectives.We will abandon the linear narrative approach common to traditional film history studies and establish the infrastructure of the discussion in four aspects: the distribution,screening,dissemination,and interaction of Korean films in China: starting from the relationship between China and North Korea,we will discuss the censorship,distribution,and production of Korean films in new China;we will explore the influence of the political and cultural backgrounds of China and North Korea on film genres and film screening patterns from the types and modes of film screening;and we will discuss the influence of the political and cultural backgrounds of China and North Korea on film genres and film screening patterns from The effect of North Korean films in China is interpreted in three stages: the "Seventeen Years",the "Cultural Revolution" and the reform and opening up,and the influence of political stance and cultural communication laws on the transnational spread of North Korean films is interpreted in a comparative dimension;between the transnational film cooperation between China and North Korea,and the influence of North Korean films on Chinese popular culture.In this study,we examine the impact of North Korean cinema on Chinese pop culture and the influence of North Korean cinema on Chinese pop culture,and further interpret China’s response to North Korean cinema,so as to comprehensively examine the specific patterns of North Korean cinema in the Chinese market.Rewriting film history inspired by a comparative film history perspective is not only an important part of writing Chinese film history today,but also an important dimension in exploring cultural exchanges between Chinese and North Korean cinema.Through the specific shape of Sino-DPRK film exchanges after the founding of New China,it is possible to restore the historical scene and reproduce the historical facts of the rise and fall of North Korean films in China,and it is also a supplement to the study of the history of North Korean films,and at the same time useful for examining the current Sino-DPRK film relations,the relationship between Chinese and socialist countries’ films,as well as for discovering the historical laws of film transmission overseas. |
