The Hakka dialect is widely spoken in nine provinces and regions, including Guangdong,Fujian and Jiangxi, and is concentrated in the Tingzhou area in western Fujian. As one of the pure Hakka counties,Wuping is located at the junction of Fujian,Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces, and because of its unique geographical location,Wuping Hakka is also quite distinctive, especially in terms of phonology. At present, the phonetic research results of Wuping Hakka dialect in academic circles are still rare. From the point of view of dialects, most of the works discussing Min,Gan or Hakka take Wuping Yanqian as the object of investigation, and there are fewer studies on the phonetics of Hakka dialects in the central area of Wuping. In particular, there are very few works that describe the whole picture of the Wuping Hakka dialect and investigate the laws of phonological evolution. In view of this, this thesis, based on the first-hand phonological materials obtained from the Wuping(Chengxiang)Hakka dialect through field surveys, organizes the phonological and phonetic system of the Wuping Hakka dialect, and describes its phonological and phonological features from both common and ephemeral perspectives. The thesis compares the phonetic and phonological evolution patterns of the Wuping Hakka dialect, and explains and illustrates some special phonological phenomena. Finally, the thesis also compares the Wuping Hakka dialect with Meixian Hakka,a representative point of the Hakka dialect,to observe the phonological similarities and differences between the two dialects and to sort out the commonalities and changes of the Hakka dialect.
