Study Of Andrei Melnikov's "Dream" Series Of Painting

Andrey Melnikov is an important contemporary Russian artist.His works are characterized by a strong lyrical tone and expressive modeling techniques,demonstrating his profound understanding of painting as an art form.This paper studies Melnikov’s Dream series of paintings and analyzes the formal structure,origins and expression in Melnikov’s Dream series.It takes specific works as objects to study his artistic language: First,it introduces Melnikov and the era in which he lived,as well as the status and influence of Russian realism in the history of art,explaining the reasons for the appearance of Melnikov’s works.Secondly,the artistic expression of the Dream series is analyzed from four aspects: the modeling language inherited from commemorative painting,the poetic decorative color style,the organizational structure derived from classicism,and the highly generalized silhouette contours.Thirdly,the paper analyzes the influence of Oriental art and Chinese traditional painting on the Dream series,and discusses the embodiment of era and personal factors in Melnikov’s works.By studying the artistic ideas reflected in this series of creations,the paper explores the common characteristics of the inherent expressiveness in Melnikov’s paintings,such as the expression methods and creative ideas embodied in his paintings.Finally,through an in-depth understanding of Melnikov’s Dream series of paintings and artistic path,the paper analyzes Melnikov’s artistic ideas and painting style to guide the author’s graduation creation.
