“Yushi”“Yinci”“Suoyi” can express causality in sentences. The three words are very similar in usage and meaning, and the English interpretations of the three words in the textbooks are similar. Therefore,it is a common phenomena for Chinese as a second language learners to confuse these three words. Most scholars’ research mainly focus on the diachronic evolution of these three conjunctions and the comparative study with other conjunctions, but there is little research on the multi angle comparison of these three words. With the help of previous studies and a large number of corpora, this paper compares and summarizes the similarities and differences of “Yushi”“Yinci”“Suoyi”.Besides, this paper analyzes the types and causes of errors in the three words by investigating the HSK dynamic composition corpus, and on this basis, put forward some suggestions about teaching. This paper can be divided into three main parts:The first part is an ontological study of “Yushi”“Yinci”“Suoyi”.Based on a large amount of corpus, this paper compares and analyses“Yushi”“Yinci”“Suoyi”on three dimensions: syntactic position, semantics and semantic usage. In terms of syntactic position, all three words can be located before the subject of a clause and between the subject and the predicate, but “Yushi” and “Yinci” can also be followed by "," at the beginning of a sentence or between compound sentences, while“Yushi” can also be used directly before a verb or adverb when the subject is omitted.Semantically,“Yushi” is a conjunction that can be used in a continuous sentence or in a sentence that is both causal and continuous,so when the sentence is simply continuous,“Yushi” cannot be replaced by any causal conjunction such as“Yinci” or “Suoyi”.From the point of view of the semantic context,“Yushi”applies to narrative chapters.“Yinci”and“Suoyi”have two functions: to illustrate and to argue.“Yushi”implies the concept of time.In other words, there is a temporal connection between the preceding and following items. While “ Yinci ” has a compounding function. Therefore, although “Yushi”“Yinci” and “Suoyi” are interchangeable, the semantics of the sentence will change slightly. The latter term of“Yushi” is generally in the already tense, while “Yinci” and “Suoyi” can be used in both the present and the future state. So “Yinci” and “Suoyi” cannot be replaced by “ Yushi ” when the subsequent sentence is in the imperfect tense.Linguistically,“Suoyi” is more colloquial, while “Yushi” and “Yinci” have a more written connotation. The second part is a study of the bias of “Yushi”“Yinci” and“Suoyi”.This paper collates the relevant corpus from the HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus and the Global Mediated Corpus, and quantifies the occurrence of errors in the use of the three conjunctions by Chinese learners, finding that the erroneous corpus can be divided into three main types: misplaced, misadded and omitted. The third part of the paper contains suggestions for the teaching of “Yushi”“Yinci” and“Suoyi”.Based on the comparison and error analysis of the three conjunctions mentioned above, this paper puts forward some suggestions: First, the teaching process should be gradual and progressive, and teaching content should be focused.Teachers should choose appropriate teaching methods, and pay attention to the practicality and application of language. In terms of textbooks,New Practical Chinese Reader Textbook and Developing Chinese both have the problem in English definitions, which will make learners misunderstand the part of speech of“Yushi”.In addition, the textbook can improve the curriculum arrangement and the preparation of exercises for these three words. For learners, this paper puts forward two suggestions:First,do not evade the difficult and take the easy,Chinese learners should practice more language points that have not mastered, and dare to make mistakes;Second,Chinese learners should consciously overcome the influence of native language transfer and cultivate Chinese thinking ability.
