| The Artist’s Career is an opera with a tragic love theme composed by Giacomo Puccini,and one of the most successful works.As a graduate student in the vocal direction of professional degree,the study of Puccini’s aria comes from the long-term study of singing and accumulation,as well as the perception of singing the work presented on stage.Finally,the entry point of this paper of Mimi,the heroine of The Artist’s Career,was chosen for the study.The thesis writing is more practical for this research through the learning research method of theory to practice,practice to theory again.The first part of the paper begins with an explanation of Puccini’s life and the background of the creation of The Career of an Artist and the plot outline.The second part analyzes Mimi’s character traits and how she portrays the role of the heroine on stage through the adjustment of her voice,movements,expressions and other factors,as well as the way she is presented on stage.The third part will explore the musical analysis and singing techniques of Mimi’s two classic songs,"People Call Me Mimi" and "Mimi’s Farewell",as well as the love duet between Mimi and Rudolph,"Ah,My Lovely Girl",and the expression of musical emotions.In the fourth part,the author will summarize and conclude the perceptions gained from singing Mimi’s arias with the concert’s singing practice. |
