Consecutive Interpreting Strategy For Medical Seminar

This practice report is based on the recording of the interpreting process,the case analysis and the summarization of interpreting strategies of Aina autism seminar.This report aims to improve the quality of the interpretation by showing the specific problems and summarizing proper interpretation methods that are chosen under the consideration of the duty of interpreters,the traits of the medical seminar interpretation and the current situation during interpretation.This practice report is based on the transcription of the source language and target language and summarizes the interpreting strategies and problems during the transfer process.Firstly,aiming at solving the problem of unequal cultural information,interpreter adopts additional translation techniques and paraphrase and imitation of liberal translation to convey the meaning and narrow the gap between the source language and the targeted language,so that the audience can obtain more complete and appropriate information of the target language.Secondly,the speaker utilizes visual materials,including slides and posters,to diversify the modality,making it a challenge for the interpreter.To solve the problem,the interpreter adopts the supplementary application of slides and the explanatory application of the medical-aid equipment to deliver the content to the audience.Thirdly,in the reflection part of the excessive redundancy of the targeted language,the interpreter improves the targeted language from the perspective of the translation skill of combination and the translation strategy of explicitation.This practice report selects cases based on real interpreting practice,which makes the application of the strategy more in line with the characteristics of the cases,so as to guarantee the pertinence and applicability of this report.It provides certain inspiration for interpreters encountering relevant interpreting problems and provides reference for interpreting practice of similar medical conferences.
