Recreation Of Informative Equivalency In Post-editing Of Medical Texts

This practice report is based on Chapters 2 to 6 of Prescribing Psychotropics: From Drug Interactions to Genetics.It focuses on the pharmacokinetics of psychotropics and provides clinicians more insight into how to use psychotropics in everyday clinical practice.The main topic of this study is the post-editing of the recreating of the text’s “informative equivalency” with the help of the Atman Cloud Translation and Yi-CAT platform,as well as the challenges and solutions found during the post-editing.The original text of this translation practice report is a medical text,which is classified as an informative text with a large amount of information and high information density.In order to improve the efficiency of medical translation,the author selects the translation mode of machine translation + post editing,summarizes the errors of machine translation and post-translation editing strategies.This paper discusses how to recreate the “information content” and “information focus” in the post-editing process while taking Feng Zhijie’s concept of “informative equivalency” and the characteristics of medical texts into account.The recreation of “information content” aims to address the recreation of the information integrity in the post-editing process,which is reflected in the recreation of terms,abbreviations and referential expressions.And the recreation of “information focus” aims to solve the translation difficulties caused by the high information density and unfocused information of medical texts in post-editing,which is reflected in the recreation of passive voice,compound sentences and logic problems.Through translation practice,it has been found that the MTPE mode of the Atman Cloud Translation and Yi-CAT platform can be used for the Chinese translation of medical texts,which can significantly reduce the translator’s workload while improving translation quality and efficiency.Through this translation practice,The author hopes to improve her post-editing skills,gain knowledge in medical fields and provide references for post-editing of medical texts..
