| The report is based on the English-Chinese translation practice of Chapter 1 of AI AND DEVELOPING HUMAN INTELLIGENCE Future Learning and Educational Innovation.It focuses on the transference of fuzzy rhetorical devices in popular science texts,and classifies several common fuzzy rhetorical devices,adopting corresponding translation strategies to transfer and deciding whether to keep the fuzziness of the original text or not.The text is a popular science text,which generally features more formal language and some psychological terms,but there exists multiple applications of fuzzy rhetorical devices,so that readers can understand the original text in a simpler way.Therefore,this report focuses on the transference of fuzzy rhetoric devices in popular science texts.By reading journals and books related to the translation of fuzzy rhetorical devices,the translator gained a deep understanding of the definition of fuzzy rhetorical devices,and according to the classification standard of scholar Han Qingling,classified them into stable fuzzy rhetorical devices and temporary fuzzy rhetorical devices,finding out the meaning that the author wants to express by using that type of fuzzy rhetorical devices.The translator mainly adopts the translation strategy,namely domestication,translation methods including liberal translation and free translation and translation technique such as addition,in order to convey the author’s intention and emotional tendency while transferring.This translation practice and translation report writing enables the translator to have a deeper understanding of the transference of fuzzy rhetorical devices in popular science texts,and to figure out reasonable solutions to the related translation problems,in the hope of providing a reference for translating such texts. |
