With the development of The Times and social transformation since the new century,children’s literature in the new century has entered a pluralistic era.The study and comparison of Chinese children’s literature and foreign children’s literature is of great significance to deeply explore the evolution of global children’s literature.This paper takes Oliver Twist by the British writer Charles Dickens and the Adventures of Mantou Bateer by the Mongolian writer Rigdon as the research object,and combines the parallel research method of comparative literature,the social and historical criticism method and the theory of imagology to systematically study the images of children in the works of the two writers,revealing the real face of the society at that time.And the plight of children in poverty.This thesis aims to make a comparative study of two classic novels about children’s growth,in order to explore their similarities and differences.By comparing the traumatic images of children in the two works,the author hopes to reveal the similarities and differences in the growth of children in different cultural environments.The research will be divided into three stages,firstly tracing the sources of traumatic child images in Britain and China,and then making a comparative study of traumatic child images in the two novels.Then,using Joseph Campbell’s story model,the similarities and differences of the story plot are analyzed and compared.On this basis,combined with the childhood life background of the two writers and the historical background of the specific era,to interpret the traumatic characters in the work.Finally,it explores the similarities and differences in the themes of the two novels,as well as the social roots that lead to these differences.The author hopes that the new findings of this paper will inject new vitality into the research of Dickens and Rigdon in China,and will also contribute to a wider understanding of the sociocultural traditions of the British and Mongolian peoples. |
