Aesthetic Psychological Mechanism’s Research Paradigm Under Philosophy Of Perception

The typical research paradigm of aesthetic psychological mechanism mostly based on a fundamental question,that is how aesthetic experience,as a special perceptual experience,is possible at the subjective level.The transformation of the paradigm for the study of aesthetic psychological mechanisms implies a fundamental issue and methodological change in the study of aesthetic psychological mechanisms.Whether it is the classic theories on establishing aesthetic attitudes by Edward Bullough,Jerome Stolnitz,or the attempts by Dickie and others to destroy the myth of aesthetic attitudes,it can be seen as promoting the transformation of the paradigm for the study of aesthetic psychological mechanisms,that is,the destruction and establishment of the research paradigm on aesthetic psychological mechanisms.I believe that the research paradigm of aesthetic psychological mechanisms can be divided into three types,with aesthetic motivation,special perceptual behavior,and continuous aesthetic perception as the core of each of the three research paradigms.Shaftsbury,Kant,Schopenhauer,and others’ research on the motivation of aesthetic disinterestedness can be regarded as the first type of paradigm,and then the research on aesthetic attitude theory by Bullough,Stolnitz,and others can be regarded as the second type of paradigm.The third type of paradigm,namely the research paradigm under philosophy of perception,is gradually emerging.This is a new paradigm of aesthetic psychological mechanism research driven by the latest scientific research achievements of philosophy of perception and neuroesthetics based on neuroscience and psychology.The new paradigm contains a richer understanding of the basic problems of the research paradigm of aesthetic psychological mechanism.Cognition and perception are considered to exist in aesthetic experience in a more harmonious way of cooperation.Regarding the discussion of the old paradigm,I will mainly focus on the aesthetic motivation and the classic theories on aesthetic attitudes constructed based on it.At the same time,it is emphasized that Dickie’s exposure of the myth of aesthetic attitudes did not deny the aesthetic psychological mechanism,but overturned the old paradigm of aesthetic psychological mechanism.Regarding the discussion of the new paradigm,I will introduce O’Callaghan’s multi-sensory theory,that is,intermodal binding awareness,revealing the continuity and irreducibility of cooperation between multi-sensory model,as well as the continuity between perception and cognition;On the other hand,combining the latest research results of neuroscience and psychology,revealing the particularity of neural processing mechanisms in aesthetic experience and the periodicity of aesthetic perception.Based on that,I propose a new paradigm for the study of aesthetic psychological mechanisms with perceptual continuity as the core,in which the continuity of cognition and perception,the continuity of perceptual information processing,and the non-objectiveness of perceptual activities are used to explain perceptual method,variability and excellence are used to explain aesthetic objects,and disinterestedness is the dominant explanation for aesthetic motivation.The understanding of perceptual method perception reveal the factual errors existing in the old paradigm,and the understanding of the aesthetic object and aesthetic motivation determines the particularity of aesthetic perception.Different from the emphasis on the specificity of perceptual behavior in the second paradigm,the new paradigm places more emphasis on viewing perceptual behavior in aesthetic experience from a changing perspective,emphasizing that the perceptual behavior associated with aesthetic psychological mechanisms are perceptual behaviors that changes within a complete aesthetic experience,rather than running through the entire aesthetic experience with a perceptual behavior.
