Study Of Autobiographical Literary Translation From The Perspective Of Memetics

Different from the related researches of sociology and traditional humanities and social sciences,memetics provides a completely different analytical perspective in the application of memetics in many fields,and plays a pivotal role in the evolution of human beings and the development and dissemination of world culture.In the process of intercultural communication,the translation of different languages is the only way.The application of memetics in the field of translation studies just proves its application value.This paper selects the first,second and third chapters and part of the fourth chapter of The Discomfort of Evening,written by the Dutch poet Marieke Lucas Rijneveld,to study its Chinese translation.The novel is a typical autobiographical text with many heavy taste elements and rich expression of Dutch characteristics.Few scholars have studied the translation of autobiographical novels.Moreover,although translation memetics are gradually applied to the translation of various styles,they are rarely applied to autobiographical literature.Therefore,this paper selects memetic ontology and Chesterman’s translation memetics as theoretical guidance,and based on the first person narrative expression of the novel,hopes to achieve the goal of "completing practice in theory and verifying theory in practice".Based on Chesterman’s translation strategies and methods,in order to express the text information to the new host truly and comprehensively,in the stage of "assimilation",the translator should reasonably use the strong memes in the meme library,effectively process some specific expressions,and "keep" in the brain for a period of time,then "express" them in the target language,so as to ensure that the meaning can be expressed in words and the emotion can be conveyed in words.For highlighting the novel’s unique horror and emphasis on words,this paper,under the guidance of Memetics,carries out the translation practice from five memes: source language target language meme,equivalent meme,untranslatable meme,free translation literal translation meme and writing meme.In the process of translation,the language and structure of the target text are constantly improved.This paper focuses on the accurate translation of words,cultural memes and long sentences in the process of translation,and discusses how to choose appropriate meme translation strategies from the two aspects of language and culture,so as to improve the quality of translation and establish more powerful memes,hoping to provide a certain research basis for the future translation of similar texts.
