| This translation project report is about the translation of chapter four and chapter five from Fragile Futures: The Uncertain Economics of Disasters,Pandemics, and Climate Change by Vito Tanzi.Chapter four talks about the measures taken by governments and relevant influence when it comes to uncertain events like natural disaster, epidemics and so on while chapter five digs into background, cause and consequence of uncertainties in the history. This,to some degree, could provide guidance for the understanding and handling of current uncertainties for governments and for the sound development of the future world. From the view of economics, the selected book which mainly aims to convey information is an informative text.Translated chapters include expressions restricted in a specific background and sentences with parentheses, which cause difficulties in translation, therefore, these problems will be discussed as key difficulties.Given the guidance of Newmark’s semantic translation and communicative translation, the translator makes the theory serve as the theoretical framework.Combined with specific examples, the translator employs some translation techniques, namely, translating expressions with specific background by annotation, and sentences with parentheses by pre-positioning and restructuring.Hopefully, the translation project could provide reference to solve similar translation problems in economic texts. |
