| This is a report on the translation of “A Pilot Study of A School-based Intervention for Early Childhood Anxiety”.The source text of this translation project examines the feasibility and efficacy of applying the CALM protocol in a school setting by teachers to treat early childhood anxiety.The source text noted that despite the commonality of early childhood anxiety,the population in early childhood has been largely overlooked in developing and researching effective interventions for mental problems,therefore,this translation project can play a significant role for children mental health treatment and research in China.As informative and scientific text,the source text employs abundant use of technical and semi-technical words,passive voice,nominalization and long sentences to ensure the objectiveness and logic of the writing.Fully understanding the features of scientific writing and adopting appropriate translation techniques are the key of this translation project.This report analyzes source text language features and translation purpose under the guidance of skopos theory.Passive voice and nominlization pose as the major translation difficulties of this project.Under the guidance of the Skopos theory,addition,adoption of unique TL syntactic patterns and conversion are the major translation techniques used to solve the translation difficulties involved in passive voice translation.Conversion and omission are used to address the translation difficulty involving nominalization. |
