| The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 edition)clearly states that teachers should pay attention to cultivating and developing students’ reading literacy,and help students improve their interest in reading and form reading habits.According to the theoretical framework of the development goals of Chinese primary and secondary school students’ English reading literacy constructed by Wang Qiang and Chen Zehang,it includes reading experience,habits and other elements.According to literature search,"reading circle" mode can improve students’ interest in reading and create opportunities for expression by real reading activities,cultivate students’ cultural awareness by role tasks,improve students’ thinking quality by group discussion activities,and exercise students’ learning ability by various role Settings.It is not only closely related to the core literacy of English subjects,but also helpful to improve students’ reading literacy from a multi-dimensional perspective.Therefore,in order to explore the relationship between "reading circle" teaching mode and junior high school students’ English reading literacy,and reveal the impact of this model on students’ English reading experience.In this study,90 students in Grade two of S Middle School in Wuhan were selected as the experimental objects.A four-month teaching experiment was carried out,and questionnaire survey and interview were combined to interpret the experimental effect.The experiment found that:(1)currently junior high school students’ English reading experience is not good,and their English reading experience needs to be improved urgently.(2)"reading circle" mode can effectively improve junior high school students’ English reading experience.Specifically,the three sub-dimensions of reading interest,reading attitude and selfassessment have different degrees of improvement,among which the improvement of students’ reading interest is the most significant.Based on this,the paper puts forward the following suggestions: Firstly,teachers should fully respect students and adhere to the teaching principle of taking students as core;Secondly,teachers should change their teaching concepts in time and pay attention to the cultivation of students’ English subject core competences.Thirdly,teachers should actively explore more teaching methods that can effectively improve students’ participation in English activities.Finally,teachers should fully improve their professional ability and professional quality,strengthen the classroom management and regulation ability.It is hoped that this experiment can further deepen the exploration of "reading circle" mode,and provide enlightenment for front-line teachers to improve students’ reading experience with the help of "reading circle" mode. |
