A Translation Practice Report Of Youth Food Insecurity In Ghana And South Africa Prevalence,Socioeconomic Correlates,and Moderation Effect Of Gender From The Perspective Of Reiss’s Text Typology

As the COVID-19 epidemic spreads around the world.To maintain global food security,all countries share weal and woe.At present,the international community should make joint efforts to avoid regional food crisis in Africa and other underdeveloped areas.In sub-Saharan Africa(SSA),research on the prevalence and relevance of food insecurity among young people remains limited.Therefore,it is necessary to carry out further research to solve this issue.Reiss’ s text type theory is a comprehensive and effective translation theory.She takes functional equivalence as the standard,focuses on text types,and divides text into three types.The translation of information type text should convey the original content accurately and completely.This paper,guided by Reiss’ s theory of text types,takes Youth food insecurity in Ghana and South Africa: Prevalence,socioeconomic correlates,and moderation effect of gender as an example to explore the translation strategies of informative texts.This translation practice focuses on young people in Ghana and South Africa and analyzes the prevalence,socioeconomic correlates,and moderation effect of gender of food insecurity in this area.This paper is divided into five parts.The first two parts are the description of translation project and translation process.The third part is a literature review,which respectively introduces the current situation of text types theory and informational texts at home and abroad.This paper summarizes three criteria for informational text: accurateness,logic,and smoothness.Accurateness requires translators to pay attention to the accurate translation of proper nouns and terms.As for logic,in addition to retaining the original logical words of the original text,the translator can also add some words.Smoothness mainly analyzes the fluency at the sentence level,analyzing the translation of long sentences and the conversion of the passive voice.The results of practice show that the theory of text type is helpful to determine the translation strategy of informative text,and play an important guiding role in improving the translation quality.To sum up,this paper focuses on the translation strategies of informational texts in the text type theory,with a view to providing reference for the future translation of informational texts into Chinese and providing services for the realization of the globalization process of food security.
