| Today,climate change poses a threat to the development of all countries in the world especially in developing countries.The food problem caused by climate change is becoming more and more serious.The impact of COVID-19 has also affected the development and supply of global food.Although China has been making steady progress in accelerating the modernization of agriculture and promoting the new development of agriculture,it still inevitably suffers from the adverse effects of climate change.Therefore,a comprehensive and profound understanding of climate change and food security,ensuring food security and realizing agricultural modernization play a vital role in China’s construction of a modern country.However,in the current field of translation,especially in the translation of scientific and technological texts,there are still few translations aimed at the field of agriculture,which not only affects our understanding of global agriculture,but also is not conducive to the exchange of agriculture in China.In view of this,this thesis chooses the book Food Security and Land Use Change under Conditions of Climatic Variability: A Multidimensional Perspective as the translation material.Through the translation of this book,it is hoped that it can provide meaningful views for the modernization of China’s agriculture,so as to promote the high-quality development of China’s agriculture.Based on the theory of functional equivalence,this thesis analyzes the translation of agricultural science and technology texts from the syntactic level and discourse level.The syntactic level is mainly from nominalization,passive sentence and sentence structure.The discourse level involves three perspectives: deixis,connection and repetition.Through the analysis,it is found that nouns in the original text can be processed into verbs at the syntactic level,especially the phenomenon of verb nominalization in the scientific text,which is often adjusted into corresponding verbs when translated into Chinese.In the original sentence,the passive voice can be adjusted to the active voice.This form of expression is more acceptable to the target language reader.In addition,the structure of the original English sentence should be adjusted in the process of translation,especially related to the logical order of sentence expression.At the discourse level,cohesive devices such as deixis,connection and repetition are used in translation to ensure the logic and form of sentences.For the deixis in the original text,we can translate them into its original meaning to ensure the coherence of the text.The use of connectives in scientific and technological texts is very frequent,and the translation method of retaining connectives can be adopted so as to ensure the coherence and integrity of the text.As for the use of lexical cohesion in the text,repetition can also be adopted in translation,especially the repetition of the central word.The author finds that the above translation methods can improve the standardization,accuracy and readability of the translation of agricultural science and technology texts. |
