| The globalization brings the growing needs of international communication,with practical texts being a must in the society.It is essential for information and cultural exchanges to improve the translation of practical texts from English to Chinese.As long and complicated sentences are inevitable in English practical texts,it is important for translators to select the right strategy.Since the second half of the last century,the direction of international translation theory study has split into two: towards linguistics and towards culture(Shi,2008).Both are developed by the West.Thus,the Chinese did not have strong power of discourse in the study of translation theory.However,eco-translatology was generated in China.Under the frame of eco-translatology,the thesis tried to apply the right translation methods and improve the quality of the translation work.Ultimately,the goal is to explore the function of eco-translatology.The thesis emphasizes that the translator should choose the text with proper difficulty.Then,the translator starts to adapt to the ecological environment of the text,including the social and cultural background.Correct translation methods should be taken to realize the “three-dimension” transformation of the source text.The whole process of the translation is the process of adapting and choosing.Under the guidance of eco-trnslatology,the translator would select the methods such as adjusting the structure of the sentence,switching the voice and the tense of the verbs,supplementation and omission,using proper substitution words,etc.As a result,the translator is more like a manager of the translation program,supervising the whole picture of the text and undertaking the responsibility to introduce the translated text to the readers.After the translation with the instruction of eco-translatology,the translator will better understand the literate,cultural and communicative meanings of source texts,creating a target text “surviving through”. |
