As the popularizing of smart cities proceeds, new technologies such as automation and the Internet are widely applied, making cities more smart and resilient. In the pandemic context,it is worth discussing how to improve the resilience of smart cities against large-scale disasters and pandemics. The source text is from the third chapter of Designing Smart and Resilient Cities for a Post-Pandemic World written by Anthony Larsson and Andreas Hatzigeorgiou. The main content of the source text is about the changes and future development of the labor market in a pre-and post-pandemic world, and the opinion of experts that the future labour market may see an increased development towards a “gig economy”.To better adapt to the future labour market, the author also provides some countermeasures. The translation of the selected chapter offers valuable references on how to perfect the building of smart cities in China and change the labor market. The source text can be categorized as the informative text, which uses compound adjectives, adjectival participles and attributive clauses in many sentences as attributives,so the translation of attributives is the focus of this report.According to Newmark’s semantic translation and communicative translation, the techniques applied in the translation process mainly include literal translation, the use of four-character expressions, conversion of sentence members, restructuring and division,so as to make the translation expressive and accurate.
