As globalization is developing rapidly,the trend is towards internationalization of education,and this is particularly true for English education,which is a service for better communication.In 2018,Japan promulgated a newly revised "English Curriculum Guidelines" for high school,marking the beginning of a new round of basic education reform in Japan.This thesis intends to study the English Curriculum Guidelines for High School in Japan and analyze the historical background,framework content,implementation effects and characteristics of its introduction,with a view to providing comparative reference for English curriculum reform and teaching implementation of high schools in China.This study mainly uses documentary research,textual research,and comparative research methods to systematically analyze the English Curriculum Guidelines for High Schools in Japan.Firstly,the study analyses the background and revision process of the Japanese Senior High Schools of English Curriculum Guidelines and discusses the historical motivation for its creation and introduction;then it analyses the general framework and specific contents of the English Curriculum Guidelines for High School in Japan,and discusses the curriculum objectives and key points,curriculum contents and implementation suggestions in general.The study then analyses the effectiveness and characteristics of the implementation of the English Curriculum Guidelines for High Schools in Japan and its development trends.Finally,it summarizes the implications of the Japan’s English Curriculum Guidelines for High School for China,considering the specific problems of English teaching and curriculum reform in China.The study concludes that the English Curriculum Guidelines of high school in Japan has considered the political,economic,and cultural factors of Japan in the process of its formulation,and the policy content is specific and detailed.The successful implementation of the Japan’s English Curriculum Guidelines of high school has important implications for English curriculum reform and teaching implementation in China: firstly,Standardizing the revision process for the preparation of curriculum standards.Secondly,constructing an integrated and social content.Thirdly,exploring active learning styles.And fourthly,strengthening the guaranteed mechanism for teaching and learning implementation.
