Dongren Poetry Notes(东人诗话)is a collection of poems written by Chosun(朝鲜)scholar Xu Juzheng.(徐居正)The book is about the theoretical criticism of Chosun Chinese poetry and Chinese poetry.It reflects the creation style of Chosun poetry and the local characteristics of Chosun poetics,and reflects the deep relationship between Chosun poetry and Chinese poetics,especially with Tang and Song poetics.It has an important position in the history of the development of ancient Chosun poetry.This dissertation is divided into six chapters,the first of which examines Xu Juzheng’s life and writings,focusing on the background of Xu Juzheng’s writing of Dongren Poetry Notes and examining the production of Dongren Poetry Notes from various aspects such as social background,literary background,and motivation for creation.The second chapter introduces the poetic theories of Dongren Poetry Notes,mainly the poetic theories of "Meteorological Theory" and "Contextual Theory" of Dongren Poetry Notes.Based on the text,this chapter analyzes the characteristics of the "Meteorological Theory" and the "Contextual Theory" in a comprehensive and detailed manner,in order to show the rich poetic theory of Dongren Poetry Notes.The third chapter is about Poetic methods of Dongren Poetry Notes,focusing on four critical approaches: comparative criticism,imagery criticism,mutual evidence of history and poetry,and knowledge of people and the world,and a detailed analysis of Dongren Poetry Notes in conjunction with related books,in order to comprehensively interpret Xu Juzheng’s view of literary criticism.The fourth chapter discusses the poetic functions of the Dongren Poetry Notes,focusing on the functions of the Dongren Poetry Notes as a recorder of events,a praiser of beauty,and a grievance,mainly reflecting the role of the Dongren Poetry Notes in preserving the deeds of the literati,praising the literati and their poems,and refuting social phenomena.The fifth chapter is the inheritance and development of Chinese poetics in Dongren Poetry Notes,which connects Dongren Poetry Notes with Chinese poetics,and explores the relationship between the inheritance and development of Chinese poetics in Dongren Poetry Notes by comparing the poetic viewpoint of the Jiangxi Poetic School(江西诗派)with Ouyang Xiu’s(欧阳修)Liuyi Poetry Notes(六一诗话).This chapter is divided into two sections,the first of which focuses on the succession of Dongren Poetry Notes to the Jiangxi poetic school in terms of poetic techniques and poetic principles;the second section explores the development of Dongren Poetry Notes to Liuyi Poetry Notes in terms of the purpose and manner of creation,in order to reflect the deep connection between Dongren Poetry Notes and Chinese poetics.The sixth chapter is about the value and influence of Dongren Poetry Notes.This chapter is mainly divided into two sections,namely,the value of Dongren Poetry Notes to the history of Chosun poetry,highlighting the Korean consciousness,and mainly highlighting the literary significance of Dongren Poetry Notes to the Chosun peninsula,as well as its national consciousness and literary self-awareness.
